This information is intended for individuals who,
intentionally or unintentionally, installed the MoviePass MediaPipe
software on their computers and wish to discontinue service with
MoviePass. This website does not offer legal, accounting, or financial
advice.
HOW DID THIS SOFTWARE GET ON MY COMPUTER?
In short, you put it there. The MediaPipe software was installed
on your computer after you clicked on an online advertisement about
free movies and video content. A 3-day trial is advertised and according
to the MoviePass
Terms of Service, you are required to cancel your MediaPipe
account before your trial expires. If you failed to cancel your
trial, the terms state that you will pay one month's service fee.
WHO IS THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?
That is a more difficult question to answer. MovieLand and MoviePass
are protected by a corporate veil that goes a few levels deep before
you get to the person responsible. Thanks to the California Secretary
of State website, we were able to follow the money to an individual's
name.
MediaPipe is heavily advertised on www.moviepass.tv and www.movieland.com.
In fact, both domains were reserved with the same registrar, are
hosted on the same server, and are physically located less that
30 miles from each other. |
You can view the Whois information
for www.moviepass.tv and the
Whois information for www.movieland.com for yourself here. The corporation
that owns MoviePass.tv is Digital
Enterprises, Inc and the MovieLand.com URL is owned by Triumphant
Videos, Inc. A complaint filed by the Federal
Trade Commission identifies the owners of these, and other offending
domains, as Easton Herd and Andrew Garroni. Previously it was suspected
that a company named GKL Search in California held ownership of these
corporations. While GKL Search makes periodic filings to the State of
California on behalf of the offending companies, there is no aparent ownership
relationship.
This suggests that Easton Herd and Andrew Garroni are
responsible for MovieLand, MoviePass, and MediaPipe.
DO I HAVE A MEDIAPIPE ACCOUNT?
Yes, you do. If you are seeing the MoviePass, MediaPipe, or MovieLand
popups on your screen, you have a MediaPipe account and it needs to be
canceled to avoid any additional financial responsibilities.
The MoviePass website has updated their terms
and conditions. In uppercase bold letters they now state that if you
use the MediaPipe trial service, software will remain on your computer
until you meet your "obligations" (i.e. pay them a subscription
fee).
MoviePass used to offer a toll-free number to cancel and cancel MoviePass,
however they have since routed that number to voicemail. Their numbers
are listed at the top of this page. They have now created a cancel MoviePass
customer service web page where you can request that your MediaPipe account
be canceled. You can attempt to complete their MoviePass cancellation
instructions, however reports indicate that when users visit the page,
MoviePass demands money to remove the annoying MoviePass popups from your
computer. To attempt their cancel MoviePass process, click on The
MoviePass Cancellation Page.
When you click on the link, you will be directed to a page that attempts
to detect the MediaPipe software on your computer. If it is detected,
then you will be admitted into the members area. If you attempted to cancel
MoviePass in whole or in part already, you will be prompted to reinstall
MoviePass and/or MediaPipe on your PC. DO NOT REINSTALL MediaPipe!! If the link takes you to a cancel MoviePass page, do not, under any circumstances,
provide any additional information about yourself such as your phone number,
name, address, social security number, credit card number or bank account
number to MoviePass.
You need to cancel your MoviePass account if at all possible before you
remove MediaPipe and stop the MoviePass popups. If you do not cancel your
MoviePass account before you cancel MoviePass / MediaPipe, you could be
billed for an entire year of MoviePass service (the price varies, but
could be as much as $359.88 USD). Reports also indicate that if you refuse
to pay MoviePass or cancel your MoviePass account in any way that is not
in accordance with the MoviePass / MediaPipe cancellation policy, that
MoviePass may threaten you with bad marks on your credit report and collection
activity.
If you have already paid money to cancel MoviePass, it is IMPERATIVE
that you follow their cancel MoviePass directions and cancel your MoviePass
/ MediaPipe account immediately before you cancel MoviePass from your
computer. To cancel your account, please visit the MoviePass
/ MediaPipe cancellation webpage. If you do not wish to cancel
your MoviePass account or you can not access the cancel MoviePass cancellation
website, you should proceed with the cancel MoviePass tutorial by clicking
on the links below to move on to the cancel MoviePass process.
Once you have canceled your MoviePass and/or MediaPipe account, use the
links below to manually cancel MoviePass / Mediapipe software from your
PC and stop those annoying MoviePass trial software popups! The cancel MoviePass process is quite easy and only involves 3 steps.
