| Remove Popcorn.net Step
1. The first step in removing the Popcorn.net software from your
computer is to download
and install the Firefox browser. You were infected with the Download
Manager software when the creators of Popcorn.net manipulated your
Internet Explorer browser. Before the Popcorn.net infection on your
computer can be removed, you must install a secure browser. Install
Firefox on your computer - it only takes seconds and is a critical
repair step. |

Remove Popcorn.net Step 2. After you have installed
and opened Firefox, you need to begin the Popcorn.net removal process. To do this,
you will need to disable your System
Restore in Windows ME and XP. Once you have disabled your system restore,
you should because you will need to restart your PC. Remove Popcorn.net
Step 3. Next, you will need to boot
your computer into Safe Mode. This will help ensure that the Popcorn.net and/or
Download Manager infections are not running while you are attempting to remove Popcorn.net.
Remove
Popcorn.net Step 4. Once you are in Safe Mode, run the uninstaller that was
added to your Add/remove Programs list when the Popcorn.net and Download Manager software
was initially installed. To do this, open your control panels and locate the Add/Remove
Programs control panel. Double click on it to open it. Uninstall any of the following
programs you find in the list of installed programs: - P2P Networks
- My
Access Media
- Download Manager
- Download Manager
- AltPatments
- Notification
Utility
- Notify, Notifier, Notification or anything like this (these
names sometimes have numbers in them)
- AltBill
- AltPayments
- AltPayV2
- DownloadManager
- FileGrabber
- FSupport
- ITBills
- LicenseManager
- MPNotifier
- OptimumOnline
- P2PNetworks
- Anything
with Popcorn.net, MovieLand or Download Manager in the name

*note* As you attempt to remove these Popcorn.net
and Download Manager programs, some of them may be in use (even in safe
mode). Additionally, some people have reported that the uninstaller attempt
to redirect them to a webpage rather than removing the software directly.
If the uninstaller does not work, simply skip that step and proceed to the
next step. You should be able to run the uninstaller after you have manually
deleted the popcorn.net files. Because of this, the removals may fail.
If any attempted Popcorn.net removal fails, press the "Ctrl-Alt-Del"
key combination on your keyboard and click on the processes tab. This is
a list of every running process on your computer. The name for the running
process should be similar to the name of the program file removal that failed.
For example, if the removal of the "Notification Utility" program
failed, you might see a running process with the word "notification"
in it. Left click on any such processes, and then left click on the "End
Process" button. Once the Popcorn.net and Download Manager process
have been ended, attempt the removal through Add/Remove Programs again.
While this seems simple enough, you are not done yet! If you restart
your computer now you will be reinfected with Popcorn.net and Download
Manager. There are only 2 steps left in the removal process. Next you
will look for specific folders on your computer that are associated with
Poporn.net and Download Manager. You will need to delete each of them
to ensure you are not reinfected.
