Remove WinHound Step 1. With the introductions out of the way, you will now need to download the tools required to remove WinHound from your computer. There are two tools that are needed. Use the links below to download each tool and save it to your Windows Desktop. Right click on each link and select "Save As" and save them to your desktop.

Remove WinHound Step 2. Once you have this tool downloaded, you need to install a secure a secure browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. You were infected with WinHound when its creators manipulated your Internet Explorer browser. To successfully remove WinHound you must download and install Firefox. After installing Firefox it is critical that you run the Firefox browser at least once. This is important in the remove WinHound process! Don't skip this step!

Remove WinHound Step 3. Once you have Firefox installed and have opened it, you need to disable the System restore function in Windows XP and ME. Double click on the file and you will see an extraction window similar to the one on the right. Click on Start and the extractor will create a folder on your desktop called smitrem.
