Google has announced a huge change to search traffic, search ranking, and websites. Starting January 2017 when searching Google on the Chrome browser any site that DOES NOT contain a Secure Socket Layer or SSL will be flagged as unsafe to users. In addition, for customers to go to a non-SSL site they will be required to navigate through several steps. Websites that do not have a SSL will be penalized in their search rankings.
At the time Google is only requiring websites that require a login to have a SSL. If a site requires a login of any kind including, word press logins, account or membership logins, or credit card purchases, it needs to have a SSL.
